The All-New Lexus LS Looks to Upend the Luxury Sedan Segment in February 2018

Early next year will see a 2018 Lexus LS newly imagined, with a new global architecture leading to what promises to be an all-new flagship for the luxury moniker. But the new model won't be just any luxury sedan.

Surely, Lexus promises a silhouette designed with a nod to coupe aesthetics, both longer and lower than its predecessor for a sleek profile that seamlessly self-integrates, from side pillar and spindle grille mesh to cabin pillars and bold shoulder line. However, the new LS sedan looks to be geared for a spacious interior at the height of both creature comforts and the definition of capability and the technologically well-appointed.

An all-new 416-horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine pushing 442 pound-feet of torque delivers on power, to be sure, with a gain on the outgoing LS and its 386-horsepower naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8. It's even paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, offering the Lexus hallmark silkiness when it comes to seamlessly shifting gears. Rear- and all-wheel drivetrains will even be available, the latter incorporating a Torsen® limited-slip center differential for the height of traction and cornering professionalism. But it's the Lexus luxury drive, the delicate balance of performance and comfort, that looks to define the new 2018 Lexus LS, as it has for the automaker's illustrious history.

Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, the Lexus chassis control system, synergizes braking, traction, vehicle stability, and steering to deliver such equipoise, resulting in a relaxing ride of impeccable handling. Plus, Lexus LS plans to appear at proportions 42 percent lighter at its front and 50 percent lighter at its rear, with 1.5 times more rigidity. Factor in an all-new multilink front suspension, showcasing double ball joints, and one can see whence comes a design highly adaptable and responsive to driving input.

Needless to say, we at Lexus of Wilmington expect this new Lexus sedan to turn more than a few heads, both regarding its sophisticated ride quality and the bevy of advanced technologies we expect to come standard and optional alike. Until February, we wait. But you don't have to. Take the short drive to see us here at 2100 Pennsylvania Ave. in Wilmington, and we'll introduce you to a sedan drive-time you'll find exceptional.
